Rebasing and a new unit - IR 3 Anhalt

Every figure on 20 x 20 mm metal bases, unit of 28 Figures

The new basing is tighter - 15mm x 20 mm and has a much more "shoulder to shoulder"-look. It uses multiple figures on most of the bases. The inspiration came from Charles S. Grant's "The War Game Rules" (2012), whose basing I copied.

I also added a new unit. Prussian IR 3 Anhalt. Currently 19 figures strong with 9 Fusiliers of IR 41 added to bring it to 28. Here they are, side by side with their respective Regimantal Commanders on horseback:

With enough figures painted and based, it is time to organize them into two "Charge!"-companies (each with 1 Officer, 1 Drummer, 1 Sergeant and 16 men) and take some photos:

The Fusiliers and Sergeants are Foundry miniatures, Officers (tricorne trimmed with a golden scalloped lace) from Front Rank and the one next to the C.O. from Foundry and the Sergeant Major is from Fighting 15s (Fighting 30s range).

The Elector's infantry (40 men, 3 officers) is now complete.
Now they have to pass muster !

Blasthof Bridge: Electoral Infantry painted

Looking at my SYW collection, there is too much work-in-progress lying around and too few finished units. I decided on using the Blasthof Bridge scenario from the Charge! rules to provide me with a short term goal and a guideline to tie together the loose ends.

The electoral Infantry - 40 men and three officers - were the first in line. With an additional thirteen figures done it is now completely painted (click picture to enlarge):

Uniforms are those of IR 41 Wied. The pale yellow flag is one of the regiments nine Kompaniefahnen.

The History of Fusilier Regiment 41

Recently, I bought this small booklet, published 1767, about Fusilier Regiment 41 von Lossow, during the Seven Years War known as „von Wied“.

Hans Bleckwenn notes in his introduction to this edition, a reprint from 1979:

„The fusilier regiment "Wied" belonged till 1755 to the little respected „Wesel Garrison “; which ranked not only in the lists of the army, but also in their opinion below the field regiments, in dangerous proximity to the disesteemed garrison troops. […]

The amazing thing emerged during the war: in its achievements, regiment No. 41 turned out to be one of the strongest of the fusiliers regiments, maybe the strongest one overall. It fights at Prag, Kolin, Kunersdorf, Liegnitz and Torgau, - pushes itself forward unimpressed from both defeats into the group of regiments which also during the last years of the war were regarded as reliable.“

The King's Birthday

Today, the 24th of january, is the 48th birthday of King Friedrich II.. In his honour, IR 41 Graf Wied zu Neuwied performes a birthday parade (click the pictures to enlarge):
